Not many people know what orphan tracks are and when they occur in iTunes. These tracks are part of the so called missing iTunes tracks but they are not songs which feature iTunes exclamation mark. In fact, orphan tracks are not even listed in your iTunes library. You can fix all sorts of missing iTunes songs, including orphan tracks with CopyTrans TuneTastic.
So what are ofphan tracks, why they exist and how do you fix iTunes library of orphan songs and videos? These are tracks which exist in your iTunes Media folder as physical song/video files but you cannot tell these tracks exist since they are not listed in iTunes library. For that matter, I like referring to orphan tracks as to "ghost tracks".
Orphan tracks are often caused when you delete songs off your iTunes library (for one reason or another), but instead of clicking the "Move to Recycle Bin" button when prompted by iTunes, you click on the "Keep File" button. This makes iTunes remove the track listings and essentially remove the songs from your iTunes library. However, the track files themselves remain in your iTunes Media folder and take up unneeded space.
